The studio execs are reportedly working on getting back to the negotiating table… It seems the AMPTP is scared and is discussing internally a path back to the table. The Wrap reports it could still be days or weeks until that happens, while The Town podcast reported that there are backchannel discussion already in progress. It seems, despite actor Stephen Amell’s comments criticizing the strike, that it is in fact working. Meanwhile, Viola Davis is stepping away from indie film G20, which was granted a waiver to continue shooting. SAG is allowing some indies to shoot as a pressure tactic on the AMPTP. The thinking is competition will force the studios’ hand — but some actors disagree and prefer the strike to be multilateral, which is what Davis is doing here. 🪧
