What to know
George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck meet with SAG leaders over stalled strike talks… It sounds like the actors are getting impatient. The Wrap reports that these A-listers were interested in hearing more about the union’s revenue sharing proposal with the streaming companies that led the studios to talk away from the table. They reportedly were supportive but had “feedback, suggestions and questions.” Hopefully these powerful actors can help get things moving again. 🪧
Skydance Animation jumps to Netflix, Alan Menken musical Spellbound to feature Rachel Zegler, Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem… You had me at Menken. Though I’m a bit torn about Skydance because it’s run by former Pixar chief John Lasseter, who had to leave the company over sexual misconduct allegations. 🤔
Grimes calls on Taylor Swift to “unite” the country with a presidential run… I know Grimes isn’t serious, but as we’ve learned with the recent NFL coverage, Swift can be quite divisive. As much as people love her, others seem to love to to hate her, not unlike most politicians. 🎸
Suffragette musical Suffs heading to Broadway… 8 years on, Hamilton’s legacy continues to cast a long shadow. 🎭
Barry Levinson, David Mamet, and Al Pacino team up for JFK assassination film… OK, I’m listening. 🎬
The Late Show goes into reruns as Colbert recovers from COVID… Get well soon, Stephen! 🦠
