Apple TV+ is increasing its price from $6.99 to $9.99 a month… In line with the $3 increase Netflix just applied, which as a reminder, is a bigger jump than most streaming services have dare applied in the past. For Apple, that’s a 43% increase, and for what? Yes, Apple has great shows and movies, but not a ton of them. 🍎
Young people aren’t interested in sex and romance in their shows and movies, prefer friendships… This according to a new UCLA study. The study found that 44% of participants think romantic storylines are overused. Dang! After centuries (maybe millenia?) of romance in human storytelling, Gen Z has had enough. I wonder if this has to do with the aggressive proliferation of internet porn as well? 💔
New Doctor Who specials starring David Tennant start Nov. 25 on Disney+ and the BBC… Ooo-wee-ooo. There’s also a new trailer for the 3 installments celebrating the show’s 60th anniversary. After being out on Who for the past few cycles (Jodie Whitaker was good, but the writing was not), I’m excited to hop back in with some familiar faces. 👽
Forgotten Seth Rogen-Charlize Theron action romcom Long Shot is shooting up the Netflix charts… Hey, that’s pretty cool to see! It’s so random what people latch onto on Netflix, but at least this time it’s a good movie that has somewhat been forgotten to time. Maybe this will encourage Hollywood to keep making stuff like it. 🍿
Rehearsal photos reveal Stranger Things: The First Shadow play… The actress they have playing Joyce looks a lot like Winona Ryder! The show opens Dec 4, so it’s only a matter of time until we hear all that it’s about. 🙃
Alexander Payne to shoot next film in Paris entirely in French… After Woody Allen (scandal noted) and soon to be Richard Linklater, this has all of a sudden become a trend. Bon chance Monsieur Payne! 🇫🇷
Jonathan Majors’ assault trial has been set for Nov. 29 after a judge refused to dismiss the case… Expect a media frenzy, maybe not one as large as Depp/Heard, but there will likely still be a lot of rubbernecking. ⚖️
