Damien Chazelle shot a 2-hour backyard version of Babylon on his iPhone as part of the movie’s development process… That sounds more manageable than the 189-minute version that was released in theaters — which by the way, grossed just $5.3 million opening weekend on an $80+ million budget. Something tells me big budgeted award-season fare such as this is not long for this world. The studios are not going to want to pay for expensive projects that have trouble finding an audience. It should be really interesting to see what kind of movies Chazelle will be able to make in the future. 📱
