What to know

  • The major chains will show Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery for one week this Thanksgiving… In a big win for movie theaters, AMC, Cinemark, and Regal will show Netflix’s sequel to Knives Out on 600 screen from Nov. 23-29, a month before it releases on the streamer. This one-week “preview” event is a good compromise for movie theaters in desperate need of big titles and Netflix who can use a short window like this as a marketing tool. 600 screens is a small number compared to the 4,000 screens wide releases usually get — but it ain’t nothing. There’s a lot of good buzz around Glass Onion after its festival run, so it makes sense that an early but limited theatrical release would continue the word of mouth.
