Critics are losing it over Longlegs and Nic Cage… In case you’re not aware Longlegs is a new horror film in theaters this week from director Oz Perkins, starring Maika Monroe, Blair Underwood and Nicolas Cage.And critics are kind of freaking out about Cage’s performance. The Hollywood Reporter writes, “The film allows Nicolas Cage to add another Hall of Fame entry to his gallery of psychos, one that won’t soon be forgotten.” The Movie Podcast says, “Longlegs is the most TERRIFYING film of the year … Nicolas Cage delivers a blood-curdling performance like you've never seen.” Variety writes, “Less than 12 hours after seeing it, the demented Nicolas Cage character resurfaced in my nightmares
How many horror movies can claim to hijack your subconscious?” Digital Spy straight up says, “You are not ready for the unforgettable and chilling experience that is Longlegs.” Awards Radar calls it the best movie of the year so far, while Flickering Myth says “It's easily the scariest film of the decade.” As of Tuesday, 93% of the 40 reviews assessed by RottenTomatoes are positive. 😱
Trailer park: We got a long list of trailers over the last few weeks, including most importantly Gladiator 2; Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s series adaptation of Time Bandits starring Lisa Kudrow; Marvel’s upcoming Agatha All Along series, Amazon’s ultra expensive holiday action film Red One with the Rock; Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis’s one-room epic Here; and Robert Eggers’ buzzy Nosferatu update.
