Deadpool & Wolverine breaks record for biggest day-one pre-sales for an R-Rated movie… It’s not out for 2 months but it’s already cutting up box office records. The Marvel movie grossed more than $8 million in its first day on sale — and seems to be heading for a $100M+ opening. The box office needs it. 2024 has been a shit show, pacing 20% behind last year which was already below pre-pandemic averages. Not a single movie has opened above $100M this year so far — and Deadpool 3 might be the first. ⚔️
Netflix puts out 2nd semi-annual data dump… Netflix has revealed its stats from the second half of last year. Sam Esmail’s Leave the World Behind was the biggest movie with 121 million views, while One Piece season one was the most watched season of a TV show with 71.6 million views. If you’re wondering what about Suits? All of its seasons together reached 144.2 million views, making up 2% of all Netflix viewing in the second half of last year. 🍿
