What to know
Tina Fey could takeover for Lorne Michaels at SNL, rumor says… The NY Post is reporting that the job is Fey’s if she wants it, and that her longtime producing partner Robert Carlock would come along. Michaels, 78, could step down after the 50th season wraps in May 2025. I’d say we should take this Tina Fey news with a huge grain of salt, maybe an entire salt shaker’s worth. The SNL schedule is aggressive and demanding. Whoever takes over for Lorne Michaels would need to give up a lot of other creative pursuits, and based on the jobs she’s taken recently—acting and show running—I doubt Mrs. Fey would want to assume the mantle. If I had to speculate, running SNL will likely fall to a non-actor writer/producer type, like Colin Jost. Probably not him, but a similar behind-the-scenes person. Would a Tina Fey-led SNL be promising? Sure! But limit your expectations. 🗽
