What to know
Fox just renewed Dan Harmon’s animated series Krapopolis for a season 3… And if you’re wondering, what the hell is Dan Harmon’s Krapopolis and how is it already on season 3? Fear not, the show hasn’t even premiered season 1 yet and won’t bow on Fox until fall at the earliest. The network appears confident though, and with a voice cast that includes Hannah Waddingham, Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy and Duncan Trussell, of course it is. One Fox exec says the show could even yield the next Homer Simpson. 🏛

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel returns for its final season April 14… There’s also a trailer through that link. Interestingly, Luke Kirby, who plays Lenny Bruce, was left off the list of series regulars for season 5. Hopefully Kirby isn’t fully gone from the show as all of the Lenny-Midge stuff in season 4 was dynamite. 🎙
Creed III weighing in with a possible franchise-best opening weekend… The threequel is on track to make as much as $40 million this weekend, which would be the best of all the Creed AND Rocky movies. Who said moviegoing was dead? 🥊
Awkwafina, Simu Liu to star with John Cena in action comedy Grand Death Lotto… It’s a Shang-Chi reunion, y’all. Awkwafina and Simu Liu were great together in the Marvel film, I hope they have plenty of scenes together here too. 👏
Poker Face jumps to number 2 on Nielsen’s streaming originals list… This is quite an achievement for Peacock, which is one of the smaller streaming services. Good job Peacock, proud of ya. 🦚
Jon Favreau releases alternative version of Iron Man post-credits scene… It’s just Sam Jackson being his motherf’in self. 🤬
Jack Kesy is your new Hellboy… Who? No offense to Mr. Kesy, but Ron Pearlman and David Harbour are tough acts to follow. 😈
Lord of the Rings musical getting immersive, outdoor staging in the UK… Man, the Brits get all the good theater. 💍
Lea Michele’s Funny Girl to close on Broadway in September… They’re finally going to rain on her parade. 🎭
HBO drops Succession final season trailer… The Roys are back for one last ride before “f-ing off” forever. 🧢
Star Trek: Discovery will end with season 5 next year… From boldly going, to boldly ending. 🌌

What to watch
TV Trailer: Up Here — March 24 on Hulu
Created by Steven Levenson, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, starring Mae Whitman, Carlos Valdes, Katie Finneran, John Hodgman, Andréa Burns, Sophia Hammons, and Emilia Suárez.
This is easily one of my most anticipated shows of the year. Any time double EGOT Robert Lopez and EGO Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen, Coco, Wandavision) write new music, it’s worthy paying attention to. And they’re collaborating with Steven Levenson, who wrote the book to Dear Evan Hansen and the screenplay for tick, tick… BOOM! The talent is there and they’ve got a clever hook of actualizing the characters’ inner voices. That said, this otherwise looks like a straightforward romantic musical comedy/drama. I’m hoping that the collective forces involved here provide something more elevated and interesting than boy-meets-girl, but so far the trailer isn’t indicating that. I’m going to watch regardless, but am being cautiously optimistic.
