HBO and J.J. Abrams butt heads over new show budget… In the latest sign of the streamers tightening the purse strings, HBO is reportedly not thrilled with the ballooning costs of J.J. Abrams upcoming sci-fi series Demimonde. So much so that WB Discovery is considering re-evaluating Bad Robot’s massive deal with the studio. Are the days of streamers offering creators massive overall deals coming to an end? We’ll see. Abrams doesn’t have much to worry about though. Just today, it was announced that Bad Robot and Apple are developing a live-action Speed Racer show. 💸
