Severance season 2 facing significant delays over backstage drama… There won’t be any waffle parties for the co-showrunners of Severance, as it seems their distaste for each other is causing strife behind the scenes. Dan Erickson, the freshman creator of the show, and Mark Friedman, a veteran producer brought in to help run the thing, reportedly “ended up hating each other” by the end of season one. Friedman tried to leave, but director and EP Ben Stiller convinced him to stay after the production couldn’t find a replacement. Now their issues, as well as script problems and a growing per-episode budget, are “wreaking havoc” on the production. Apple reportedly wants two more seasons and has quietly brought in House of Cards creator Beau Willimon to help. That’s good news to me; besides Cards, Willimon contributed greatly to Andor. It’s a bummer to see such a great show like Severance have issues like this, hopefully it doesn’t hurt the end product too much. 🧇
