Jeremy Allen White in talks to play Springsteen in biopic… Deadline just revealed in an exclusive report that the 33-year-old actor is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming A24 movie called Deliver Me From Nowhere. It’s being written and directed by Scott Cooper, who made the musical drama Crazy Heart for which Jeff Bridges won an Oscar. This isn’t your typical full-life biopic though as the movie is just going to focus on the making of Springsteen’s album Nebraska in the early ‘80s. It’s based on a nonfiction book by Warren Zanes and Springsteen will be directly involved in the film. Jeremy Allen White feels like the perfect choice to play Bruce. He’s definitely got the look and the acting chops to pull it off, but from what I can tell there isn’t much info on whether White can sing. Bruce’s voice is super distinct, so that could be a challenge, but maybe the movie won’t call on him to sing at all? We’ll see. 🎸
Austin Butler to star in Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing… A ‘90s-set crime drama about a former baseball player who enters the criminal underworld of downtown NYC. Sounds great. Butler is collecting acclaimed directors like Pokémon cards. ⚾️
