What to know

  • Ted Lasso aired its season 3 finale — but was it a series finale?… I’m not going to get into any spoilers here, I just want to talk about how the finale is being presented. This entire season, Apple and the cast have refused to say whether this truly is the end of the show — instead we’ve heard “this is the end of a three-season arc.” If I had to guess, the reason for not explicitly calling it a series finale is because Apple doesn’t want to lose subscribers who might cancel once Lasso is gone. But then explain Brett Goldstein’s Instagram post today saying “the end is here” and that it was a “truly magical experience?” Sounds to me like this is the end for real and all this beating about the bush was just delaying the inevitable. I truly hope Apple doesn’t set a trend here and inspire other streamers to lie by omission to their subscribers about whether a show is ending or not. It’s obnoxious. ⚽️
