What to know
Marvel news: Destin Daniel Cretton exits Avengers: Kang Dynasty, Johansson says it would be a “miracle” if she came back to Marvel, What If season 2 sets 9-day rollout in Dec… Three unrelated Marvel stories today. First, does Cretton leaving Kang Dynasty signal that Marvel is going in another direction story-wise for this film? Will it even be called Kang Dynasty? After everything that’s happened, I bet it won’t be. Scarlett Johansson knows what’s up. Reviving Black Widow and the other OG Avengers would be a very bad idea. And finally, we’ve seen weekly rollouts and binge drops, but we don’t get daily rollouts on TV all that often. I enjoyed the first season of What If and am looking forward to this holiday treat. 💥
Kaitlyn Dever reportedly being considered for Abby in The Last of Us season 2… I don’t know who Abby is but nothing was made worse by having Kaitlyn Dever in it. She apparently was up for the lead role of Ellie at one point, so it makes sense that Craig Mazin would want to bring her into the fold. 🍄
Jimmy Kimmel will once again host the Oscars… Making this his 4th go round. Not a bad choice, if a safe one. Hopefully nothing too crazy happens this time. Cause when Jimmy’s at the helm something usually does. 🏆
Critics are praising Ridley Scott’s epic and oddly funny Napoleon movie… I was so disinterested in this movie up until this point, but now I guess I’ll check it out? Maybe? 🇫🇷
David Zaslav says striking writers were right about almost everything… You don’t say! Maybe you could have arrived at that conclusion sooner??? This guy. 😑
Songbirds and Snakes eyeing $50 million opening weekend… It’s got some tough competition, but with a $100M budget, $50M isn’t too bad. 🐍
Young Sheldon ending with season 7… Here’s the part where you say, “I can’t believe Young Sheldon was still on the air.” 🔚
Ana Nogueira has written Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow for James Gunn’s DC… And Gunn really likes the script. 📄
Kevin Hart getting 2024 Mark Twain prize… Not a bad pick. 👏

What to watch
Trailer: Madame Web — Feb 14 in theaters
Directed by S. J. Clarkson, written by Claire Parker and Clarkson, starring Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Adam Scott, Tahar Rahim, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, and Zosia Mamet.
This looks pretty good. I like the time travel/future seeing element of the movie and the action is really visceral. I’ve been way out on Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff movies, which by most accounts have been bad. I wish there was a little more levity here and I don’t find Dakota Johnson all that charismatic as a movie star — but this has enough intriguing pieces that I’m giving it a soft “watch” right now.
