• Marvel used AI to create the Secret Invasion credits… What the fuck! In this current moment, this could not be more tone deaf. The writers are currently on strike partly because of the threat AI poses to creative jobs. The show is called SECRET INVASION, which is, ironically, a pretty good metaphor for how AI is threatening to put creatives out of work. Or maybe a more apt metaphor would be Ultron, an actual in-world villain fueled by AI? Marvel might have been going for a cute gimmick here, but should have just hired some designers to make its credit sequence. The studio has already built up a bad reputation with artists due to the stress it puts on visual effects houses. How could it think outsourcing a visual design job to AI would be a good idea? I just can’t. 👎
