• Paramount puts Mean Girls on TikTok for free in 23 parts, courts controversy… Of all the things that upset people, a 19-year-old movie being distributed on social media is not one I saw coming. But certain industry voices on Twitter are speaking out against Paramount doing this, because they see it as another way for the studios to avoid paying residuals. Others are mad because it’s tacky, I guess, to cut it up this way? In my opinion, this TikTok drop is beyond innocuous and also pretty pointless. If the movie was more recent or a more in-demand title maybe that would be more of a problem, but why are the Twitterati dying on this hill? Everyone’s looking for something to be mad at. 👚
