Mike Myers’ new show “is the latest example of Netflix’s blank-check bloat”… The Pentaverate is apparently not very good, but Variety’s framing in this review caught my eye. Caroline Framke calls the show the latest in Netflix’s pattern of allowing talent to do whatever they want for however long without any editorial oversight. As Framke points out, Myers’ name will likely attract enough viewers for the streamer to be happy — but shouldn’t we want our TV networks to be at least a little selective about what they program? 📺
