• WBD wants to make more Harry Potter movies with J.K. Rowling… Lots to unpack here. David Zaslav was quoted saying the studio hasn’t “done a Harry Potter in 15 years,” and he’d like to do “something with J.K. on Harry Potter going forward.” This makes it sound like Zaslav wants a Harry Potter movie proper, not just two more Fantastic Beasts movies from Rowling. (The Beasts franchise was supposed to span 5 films.) Mr. Zaslav, might I suggest Cursed Child? Any future Potter project comes with a massive asterisk though, as Rowling continues to court controversy for her anti-trans views, tainting whatever WB puts out with her involvement. Would Daniel Radcliffe return for Cursed Child? Probably not based on his recent comments about Rowling and franchises in general. If I were in charge of the Wizarding World, I’d make a gritty, adult-aimed series like Andor for HBO Max. But that’s just wishful thinking at the moment. ⚡️
