• NBC might bail on 10 pm programming… In the latest example of linear television’s slow decline, NBC is reportedly toying with giving the 10 pm hour back to the local affiliates as a way to cut costs. Shocking news, but not unprecedented. TV started out with fewer programming hours (Fox doesn’t even do 10 pm to this day) and as you might recall, NBC tried giving Jay Leno 10 pm all week long in 2009. If NBC does stop programming at 10 pm, a move that could come as soon as fall 2023, Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show could end up at 10:30 or 11.
