What to know
Rumor says Christopher Nolan is in talks for Bond… Jordan Ruimy at World of Reel is reporting that Nolan is “in very serious contention” to direct the next James Bond movie. Obviously this would be amazing, but I would take this with a big grain of salt for now — for a few reasons. Because of Oppenheimer and the strikes, it doesn’t seem like Nolan and producer Barbara Broccoli were actually all that close to a deal. Additionally, Nolan would have to cede a lot of creative control to the Broccolis, who have strict rules for Bond, and he reportedly doesn’t want to do that. Nolan specifically brought up the issue of creative freedom and wanting to cast his own Bond while talking to Josh Horowitz about the franchise. Ruimy mentions Aaron Taylor-Johnson as in line for the role — but it’s unclear if that would be Nolan’s pick. Ruimy also says that Broccoli’s back ups include Danny Boyle, Denis Villeneuve, and Paul Greengrass, all of which seem like great picks to me. Though I can’t imagine Villeneuve signing on after just doing 2 massive Dune movies and potentially making a third. 🍸
