What to know

  • “Where are the movies,” ask Oscar voters?… Something odd is going on at the Academy. The online portal where members are able to screen awards eligible films is oddly empty. We’re 16 weeks out from voting. At this time last year there were 75 movies available to voters, right now there are 23 (most of which are not good). It’s true the studios were more open to streaming last year — but this can’t be a great sign for the health of awards season 2022. 🏆
