• The Oscars to pre-tape 8 categories… In its latest attempt to increase viewership, the Oscars will give out the awards for documentary short, film editing, makeup/hairstyling, original score, production design, animated short, live action short, and sound in the hour before the broadcast. They will then be edited down and cut into the show after the fact. How this increases viewership, I do not know. Maybe a tighter show will keep people from tuning away — but that requires they tune in in the first place. 🏆
