Paramount chief plans to increase theatrical release output… Paramount put out 8 movies in theaters this year, but CEO Brian Robbins says the plan will be 10-12 next year, increasing to as many as 15 in years to come. “Theatrical still has the greatest impact. That sort of theatrical release, 45 days later to streaming, that’s working beautifully,” Amen. Of course, Robbins has the theatrical unicorn Top Gun: Maverick to back up his claim — but it really does seem that theatrical releases are still king and that the trickle down hype (to VOD and streaming) is real. 45 days really isn’t that long to wait for new movies either, if you can’t get to a theater. They appear to have figured it out over at Paramount. 🏔
