What to know

  • Animators recall tough working conditions on Across the Spider-Verse, say next one will be delayed… Vulture has collected the thoughts of 4 animators on Spider-Verse 2 who say their working conditions were less than ideal. Specifically, they claim that producer Phil Lord’s demanding and nitpicking management style required them to work 11 hour days, 7 days a week, for more than a year, and that because of this 100 workers left the project. They also say that Beyond the Spider-Verse won’t make its March 2024 release date. Whether it’s animators or VFX people, we’ve got to stop doing this. These artist deserve better from the industry. For what it’s worth, Vulture included multiple other sources speaking out in defense of Lord. 🕷️
