What to know:
Peacock lost $1.7 billion in 2021, has 9 million paying subscribers… Not only that but it plans to lose $2.5 billion in 2022. Getting a streaming service off the ground is clearly not cheap and Peacock has a long way to go to compete with Netflix (200+ million subs), Disney+ (100+ million subs) and Hulu (41 million subs). I think it’s inevitable that we see even more consolidation of these smaller streamers. Paramount+ and Peacock could merge, for example. From a consumer perspective, I think Peacock has some good stuff (Girls5eva, We Are Lady Parts, the Olympics) that make it worth having for now. 🦚
