What to know
The writers are on strike and the late night shows have shut down… The WGA and the studios failed to reach an agreement Monday so for the first time in 15 years, the writers are on strike. Nightly programs including Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon, Seth Meyers, The Daily Show are going dark (and will air reruns), while the weekly shows, SNL, Bill Maher, and John Oliver, are also expected to hit pause. During the ‘08 strike, the late night shows did eventually come back sans writers which led to some awkward and hilarious moments. Meanwhile, we’re learning of a few shows that have paused writing upcoming seasons, like Abbott Elementary and Cobra Kai, while House of the Dragon will continue on with production thanks to finishing all of its season two scripts. 🪧
