What to know
Bo Burnham, Marvel, Mandalorian, Maya Rudolph win big at Creative Emmys (full list)… There’s a lot to enjoy in the newly minted Creative Emmy winners list. Bo Burnham won 3 awards for Inside, officially starting his EGOT journey. Marvel also earned their first Emmys thanks to WandaVision. Mando continued to dominate in the special effects arena, while Maya Rudolph added 2 trophies to her mantle for voice acting on Big Mouth and hosting SNL. Speaking of repeaters, Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez’s “Agatha All Along” won best song, meaning Bobby is on his way to a THREEGOT. The only thing I’m a little mad about is Queen’s Gambit taking cinematography over Underground Railroad. The latter of which is arguably the most beautifully shot TV show of all time. The primetime Emmys are this coming Sunday! 🏆
Colin Farrell might star in Penguin spin-off series for HBO Max… Remember that photo of Farrell’s Penguin that looks like Richard Kind? Well, that’s possibly getting an HBO Max series. Meanwhile, Robin Lord Taylor already gave a pretty great Penguin performance on Fox’s Gotham, but I digress 🐧
Jason Sudeikis to get about $1M per Ted Lasso episode… and the rest of the cast and writers negotiated with Apple for significant pay increases as well. Apple certainly has the funds give these talented people what they’re worth! Writing is now underway for the comedy hit’s third season right on the even of its total domination at Sunday’s Emmys. ⚽️
Audra McDonald and Leslie Odom Jr. to host 2020 Tony Awards and special on Sept 26… Yes, you read that right McDonald will host the 2020 Tonys which have been delayed a year plus for obvious reasons 🎭
Keegan-Michael Key joins Timothee Chalamet’s Wonka prequel… Man, I kinda wish Key was playing Wonka instead 🍫
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series renewed for season 3… good 4 them 🎵
Marc Maron will voice Lex Luthor, Ethan Hawke will voice Batman, and Hayley Atwell will voice Lara Croft… all on separate shows 🗣
Jeff Bridges’ cancer is in remission… pretty groovy, man 👏

This looks like a blast! I love that it’s Christmas-themed and is dropping Thanksgiving weekend. Is this the MCU’s Die Hard? Seems like they are trying to directly reference it at times. This trailer is doing such a great job of balancing the darker parts of Clint’s backstory with what appears to be a lighter and more fun spin on the character and his universe in this series. I was going to watch this no matter the tone, but this way exceeded my expectations for what this show was going to be. And one other thing: Can we get a full version of the Steve Rogers Broadway musical?
