What to know

  • How do you sequelize a movie where the hero died?… That’s the question for Will Smith and the team behind the upcoming I Am Legend sequel. As you probably won’t recall, Smith’s character died at the end of the first one — but he’s got to be in the follow up. Despite the slap heard round the world, he’s still a massive movie star (maybe even more so now), so screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is just going to ignore the original movie’s ending! They’ll opt to treat the alternative ending, a.k.a. the book ending, as canon instead. No one should notice. I actually had completely forgotten the character had died at the end, so this doesn’t really bother me. 🪦
