Tom Cruise is big mad, report says
And master director won't drop a trailer or any image of his new movie
What to know
Tom Cruise is reportedly ‘pissed’ at theater owners for limiting Mission: Impossible 7’s large-format window… M:I - Dead Reckoning Part One comes out on July 12. For 9 days it will play on most North American IMAX screens. Then on July 19, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer will take over all of those large-format screens, bumping Dead Reckoning and cutting the total number of screens it’s playing on. Tom Cruise is allegedly none too happy about this situation and has reportedly been calling theater owners personally to express his “extreme displeasure.” Cruise supposedly feels he’s owed more for “saving cinemas” as they say with Top Gun: Maverick. Nolan is tight with IMAX and shot Oppenheimer “exclusively with IMAX large-format cameras,” so I get why he’s getting preference. But in my opinion, Cruise isn’t wrong to be upset. Dead Reckoning is going to do much more business than Oppenheimer and exhibitors might be kicking themselves by August for limiting the former’s total screen count. 🎥
