• Mission: Impossible 7 is reportedly underperforming, eyeing $80M opening… Uh oh. It was projected for $90M and you’d think with the Tom Cruise of it all, it would have exceeded that. The movie is great and the reviews are phenomenal, but maybe some U.S. moviegoers are skipping it in anticipation of Barbie (or Oppenheimer) being their big film outing for the month? Maybe the fact that it’s the 7th in a series is daunting for casual audiences? This will only add to the trend of box office underperformers this summer, another disappointing headline for an industry is crisis. All that said, it’s doing well overseas. 😮
