What to know
Will Poulter is your next Marvel hero… Poulter, who you might recognize from this meme, has been cast as Marvel superhero Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Comic fans have long been anticipating Warlock’s live-action debut and Poulter’s screen test apparently wowed James Gunn and company. Poulter, who you might also know from Maze Runner, Underground Railroad, Midsommar, and The Revenant, apparently beat out George MacKay and Rege-Jean Page (!) for the role. 💥
AMC greenlights Tales of the Walking Dead anthology series… Cable networks love their anthology shows. I get it though, a zombie-specific anthology series does make sense and offers narrative flexibility a long-running series couldn’t. I probably won’t be checking back into the Walking Dead franchise for this, but I’m sure it will satisfy the fans. 🧟
Sony reportedly nearing to deal to acquire Bad Wolf productions for $81M… When you make His Dark Materials, Industry, The Night Of, and I Hate Suzie someone is bound to come a calling. Mergers and studio-buyouts are happening left and right in Hollywood, but this is one of the savviest moves I’ve seen in a while. I wonder if and how this might change Bad Wolf’s relationship with HBO. 📺
Jeremy Allen White to star in FX comedy series The Bear… Anyone who watched 11 seasons of Shameless knows how talented White is — even though the long running Showtime series lost the thread on his character towards the end. I’m glad he’s getting the chance to lead a show, especially a true comedy, after being in a large ensemble dramedy for so many years. Ironically, The Bear is also set in Chicago. 🍳
Ridley Scott cut a Matt Damon-Ben Affleck kiss from The Last Duel… why does Ridley Scott hate us? 👨🏻❤️💋👨🏻
Epic Games considering Fortnite movie… I’m not sure I can sit through 2 hours of 11-year-olds swearing at each other 🕹
The Golden Globes plan to give out awards this year even without a ceremony… great news, white Hollywood! 🌐
Cecily Strong to star in solo off Broadway show… live from New York, it’s Cecily Strong 🎭

Trailer: Home Sweet Home Alone - Nov 12 on Disney+
Directed by Dan Mazer, written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, starring Archie Yates, Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Timothy Simons, Pete Holmes, Ally Maki, Chris Parnell, Andy Daly, and Devin Ratray.
You won’t need to go looking somewhere in your memory for the plot points of Home Alone, as they are all right here in this trailer. As of right now, this looks like a beat-for-beat remake of the original — and that’s kind of a bummer. Sequels like this are hard, you want to deliver on the nostalgia, not break a proven formula, but still surprise people. We’ll see where this falls on The Force Awakens line between reboot and replica. I’m going to give SNL talents Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell and this A+ cast the benefit of the doubt that Home Sweet Home Alone is more than a carbon copy. Let’s hope for now that it’s the Disney marketers not wanting to stray too far from the familiar. Unless the reviews for this are absolutely terrible, I probably will check it out on Disney+ at some point this holiday season.
